Family Fun: Create and Explore
In search of fun that’s just for kids? You've come to the right place! Immerse yourselves in sights, sounds, and experiences that will get your imagination going. We've partnered with local artists and arts organizations to provide activities that inspire creativity and discovery, so dive in and take a look at what you can uncover.
PAPER CLOCKS WITH ARABISH WAY
Break out your scissors and glue! You'll need a few household items (and a brass fastener) to put together a clock that will teach you to count to 12 in another language. The numbers are written out in Arabic, but are also transliterated into English so you can read along! Watch the video here for more instructions.
LIVING LEGACIES WITH NORTHWEST FOLKLIFE
As part of our Living Legacies cultural focus, join Northwest Folklife to learn all about interviewing and collecting stories in your own life. Interview your friends and family and discover your own legacy! Then it’s up to you to decide what to do with what you’ve learned. Get inspired to write a poem, draw a picture, or find another creative way to share your story based on your interview questions. For more help, click here to view our toolkit.
CREATE A MASTERPIECE WITH SEATTLE CHILDREN'S MUSEUM
Join our friends at the Seattle Children's Musem for some art making fun. They've picked out two videos to experiment with color, shapes, and point of view! For the younger kids, try out DIY Scratch Art, and for you big kids, try out Painting with Scissors!
GET CREATIVE WITH LIZ TRAN STUDIOS
Art is bigger than galleries and museums. Art is community, art is a political act, and art is love. And you can do art right from your living room! Download a printable coloring sheet of a mural by Liz Tran to get creative with. If you need a little inspiration, watch this video about the mural itself!
